Alarcón is a municipality in Cuenca, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It has a population of 182.
In 1177 Ferren Martínez de Ceballos led the Christian forces which captured Alarcón - then an important fortress - from the Almohads. In gratitude, King Alfonso VIII of Castile gave him the name "Alarcón", which was borne over centuries by his descendants, among them the noted 16th century dramtist Juan Ruiz de Alarcón.
